Well verified tradition informs us that the first school in this town was opened by Rhoda Simmons in 1831, in what was known as the "hunter’s cabin," also that the second school was kept in a barn, and that Betsey Woodward and Mrs. Davis were the earliest teachers there. The first school house was a log building. After being set off from Hornby, in 1831, the territory of Campbell was divided into school districts and provision made for the support of a school house in each. The town contained nine districts, each provided with a school house. During 1893-34, twelve teachers were employed.

The Campbell School District with the Campbell Central High School being in the same location as the current Campbell-Savona Central High School. It was located in Campbell, NY, from 1911 until Spring of 1992. It then merged with the Savona School District and Savona students then attended the new Campbell-Savona Central High School.

The Campbell-Savona Central School District (CSCSD) was founded in July of 1992 when Campbell Central School District annexed the Savona Central School District. The District offices and the Jr./Sr. High School are located in Campbell and the Elementary School is located in Savona.
