Atlanta SchoolsIn the early school era of the Cohocton area, the Atlanta and North Cohocton areas were District 3 of the school areas. The Atlanta-North Cohocton log school was built near Cottrell Block. It was later deserted and the wood frame school house was built near the river bridge in 1812. The next school house was north of the M.E. Church. In 1874, the Atlanta-Cohocton Union School was opened, which was located between Atlanta and North Cohocton, NY so it was convenient to both towns. It was a wood frame building.[Cemetery Rd and Wayland St, Atlanta, NY] In 1934, students went to Cohocton High School in Cohocton, NY. Cohocton High School was opened in 1934 and the
area districts merged with Cohocton to form the new Cohocton School District, which in 1993 merged with Wayland to
